How to Prepare for
Professional Carpet Cleaning
It's cleaning day!
I look forward to our cleaning appointment. I am dedicated to cleaning your carpets deeply and thoroughly, so you can rest assured that your carpets are healthy, odor-free, and look great!
To get the most from our carpet cleaning appointment, there are a few things that I ask of you to prepare for a smooth and enjoyable cleaning day, and to get the most out of our appointment.
1. Protect Valuable and Breakable Items and Furnishings
Please remove lamps, vases, and other fragile or breakable items from all tabletops.
If you have full-length draperies, please pin them up so they are at about 6 inches off the floor. You can use clothing pins or regular pins. Also, if you have skirts on upholstered furniture and bed coverings that are touching the floor, please pin them up as well. Thank you!
Tip: Dust Baseboards and Furniture
Dusting your furniture and the baseboards in each room prior to your carpet cleaning appointment will help ensure that the dust won't end up on your newly-cleaned carpet.
2. Clear Your Floors
Please remove small items like floor plants, ottomans, small tables, magazine racks, dining room chairs, and anything on the floor that would hinder the cleaning process.
It would also be helpful if the floors to be cleaned are free from personal items, toys, books, etc.
I'll be happy to help you move some light pieces of furniture such as chairs and coffee tables.
3. Keep Your Pets Safe
If you have pets, please secure them away from the rooms that will be cleaned. The noise from some of the cleaning equipment may frighten pets. And we also want to make sure your pets won't sneak out the door, as the door will be open (to allow for our professional cleaning hoses) during your cleaning appointment.
4. Please Free Up Parking for the
Truck-Mounted Cleaning Equipment
I use powerful, truck-mounted equipment, and I'll need to park my vehicle as close as possible to an entry door in order to run hoses for the cleaning equipment. The closer the better. And I'll also need a little room to work around my van.
If anyone in the family intends to leave while I am working, you'll need to move your vehicle out of the garage and park on the road prior to my arrival. Thank you!
I will also need access to a hose bib usually found outside or in the garage.
Also, I'll need a 3-foot wide pathway to each room, so please do not block the access to the rooms to be cleaned with the furniture that you moved from the area.
5. Prepare for our Pre-Inspection Walk-through
Although a full inspection is part of my complete carpet cleaning process, nobody knows your home better than you do!
Please walk through your home prior to my arrival, and take notes of your highest traffic lanes, and any stains or spots that you are particularly concerned about, and please show me these areas during our pre-cleaning walkthrough. That way, I can be sure to give those areas the extra care they need — and apply special techniques if necessary — so you can have the peace of mind knowing that I will address these areas.
Please also let me know if you have any special instructions, or if there are any broken or fragile furnishings, with weak legs for example, or loose tops.
6. Prepare for After Your Cleaning
It's a good idea to plan ahead for the necessary drying time after your cleaning.
For best results, follow these tips after your cleaning:
